I just finished watching Girls5Eva, and for whatever reason, it reminded me of Lillix. I guess they were the closest thing to a “wronged-girl-band” I had in my library.
This song especially had a very familiar feel, and sounded very that era, and a comment on the video actually highlights why that might be:

“So Yesterday” by Hilary DuffThey sound similar to each other. Plus, they were written by the same songwriting team. Therefore, they have the same parents.
I remember enjoying their 2 albums in my teens, and hearing the progress in their music, whether it came from a switch in drummers that resulted in hi-hat heavy tunes, or scaling down to a duo with a supporting band.
Oh and they pass the “can they cover” test—in fact, that’s what they’re most famous for.
