Paper Aeroplanes

Lifelight

I’ve got just the one tattoo. It’s an airplane. And it’s named after this band.

Well, not directly. You see, this version of the band is named after an unreleased song they made when they were Halflight, and my tattoo is named after the same song.

Let it all drift away, just like paper aeroplanes.

That’s one of the many lost Sarah Howells/Rich Llewellyn songs lost to the ether. It’s the one that left the most mark on me—literally. But thankfully, throughout their 4 albums and many EPs, they’ve released more than enough impactful songs, as Paper Aeroplanes.

Like this song you can sing to let someone know they’re not as old as they think…

…or this one that you can sing on a Tuesday evening in July…

…or it’s the middle of June, and rain falls done, and you’re thinking of someone…

…or when you can’t find the strings to pull to break the silence within you…

…or feel love like you’re lost in some old fashioned movie, and it all works out right in the end…

…or don’t want someone to make the same mistakes as you…

…or in the deep days of December…

…or to let someone know they’re in safe hands…

…or ever carved promises into apple trees…

…or when you leave the future up to fate…

…or wanna tell someone to find you, ‘cause you’re the one…

…or just wanna sing it like there’s nobody watching.

I’m glad that I flew from Sweden to just watch them play a small gig in London. I’m glad I met them. I’m honored to be a lifetime fan.

I’m so glad that the tattoo I have is reminiscent of the song that took me out of deep depression, and symbolizes one of the most talented musical duos in existence.

…and most of all, I’m glad that I decided to sit in the living room on that day I heard the Hallmark promo. If none of that had happened, none of this would happen, and I wouldn’t have heard of the duo I listened to most in my life.
