You can’t break something that doesn’t work anymore
And now I’m seeing my life like a tourist
If there ever was a band that sounds like fockin’ Beatles, Cotton Mather is the one.
While Kontiki is their most revered album, my favorite is Cotton Is King. The lyrics from both make me think I’m having a stroke, but the latter has more understandable snippets amongst all the weirdness.
That’s not to say Kontiki doesn’t have some my favorite–and the bands most popular–songs.
(I’m terribly saddened to not be able to find Paul Rudd singing an acoustic cover of this song on Veronica Mars.)
(Now that I’m thinking of TV shows, I’m also sad that Cupid was cut short.)
I discovered Cotton Mather right between them disbanding and coming back again. I got to read the sorrow of fans losing the band, and witness their joy over them coming back.
…and their first single after they were back sounded like a song they meant to record before going on their hiatus.
